  • To see nice clean environments for the animals treated, it truly is great we have seen pretty much everything in 5 hours time, dress comfortable although there are many benches and kiosks to sit and feel immersed in nature, I highly recommend it! Then with the Berlin Welcome Card in two we paid €34 and something for zoo and Aquarium. PS. Bring water costs a little too inside 2.80 € ...

  • The Zoo is modern and full of animals from different regions of the world. The panda bear, Penguin, all kinds of cats (Lions, Tigers, Panthers ...), polar bears, giraffes, elephants, hippopotamus, in addition to an Aquarium (paid for) with hundreds of types of fish, including sharks, manta rays, hammerhead shark and several others.

  • Clean and spacious place. Undoubtedly, the recent addition of pandas will raise the profile and fortunes of this otherwise standard zoo. Sometimes politics, Chinese - German in this case, can be benef...  more »

  • This place was awesome! For the cost of entry it just seemed to go on for ever. I don't particularly believe in zoos and I'm not sure about the elephant display but most of the animals seem well kept. I would think the big cats would need more room too but they generally seemed in good health. The monkey section was fantastic however the extra cost for the aquarium seemed a bit much. Still worth a visit, probably one of the more interesting places in Berlin.
  • This place was incredible. It is also the most species diverse zoo in the world, and it certainly showed. Definitely get the ticket that includes the aquarium, because this was half of the excitement of this zoo. The aquarium includes the reptile, amphibian, and insect house. Definitely an experience if you're visiting Berlin.
  • The zoo was great, so many cool animals. The petting parts was so so cute... BABY GOATS! You can feed them little pellets for like 20c in machines! Went to a little cafe, had pancakes! It was a little steep but good food. There are student discounts as well!
  • I really enjoyed my trip to this zoo. The animals seemed to be well looked after and there was a good range of animals to see - the polar bears being the highlight for me. I would definitely recommend this zoo to anyone visiting Berlin, and make sure to get the Zoo/Aquarium combined ticket if you do as the Aquarium (which also has reptile, amphibians and insect areas inside) is worth a look too.
  • Awesome zoo. Animals seem happy and have excellent habitats. You could easily spend a day or more here especially if you check out the aquarium (with reptiles, insects, and amphibians) as well. Definitely take the time to feed the goats in the farm area, they are adorable.

Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.
