Gawhar Shad Madrasa and Mausoleum serve as the resting place of one of the most notable queen's in Afghanistan's history, who ruled the area in the 15th century. Her tomb lies in a single building--with a dome on top--made of clay and blue tiles.   • The shrine was being restored when I went, in September 2016, but its worth a visit. The gardens outside are so typical of Afghanistan, with roses and fruit-bearing trees giving shade to tired travell...  more »
  • The set is composed of the remains of a madrasa, old minarets and a tomb which is well preserved. Interesting tour.
