Enter the bowels of a global empire at Bagram Airfield, the largest US military base in Afghanistan. Enjoy a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains amid heavy security. You can stay in classic military-style lodging, or have a true British Armed Forces’ B-hut or a US Army tent experience. Explore the corridors of power and get an understanding for the politics of modern warfare, with government contractors, NATO-led international troops, and a combination of US forces. Visited by a US president and once attacked by a suicide bomber, the site features a US-run pre-trial detention facility and an independent detention facility. Put Bagram Airfield into our Bagram family vacation planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

It is what you make it. You can walk faster than you can drive. Best place would be the Pat Tillman USO building! Chances are that you are hanging out waiting to go home! more »

They have two Green Beans Coffee, that I know... I saw clean women for the first time in months! (They could have been ugly but I couldn't tell). I heard some POGs complaining about the lack of eating... more »

I won a free trip here with airfare included, after signing up for a contest with the local Marine recruiter. The beach is amazing so as long as you don''t step on those little dirt mounds with the flags. Some of the quality experiences include breathtaking views of soviet apartment buildings from your very own guard tower, and surprise fireworks (I do wish they'd work on the timing of those though). Excursions into the countryside are plentiful, scenic, and almost never boring. The tours are so good, you almost feel like you have to go. In short, if you're looking to escape the hordes of tourists bringing down the place in locales such as Rome and Paris; Bagram is for you!

As far as deployed bases go, Bagram is about as comfortable a place you will find. The food at the dining facilities is good and the gyms are well equipped.

This place is completely different then any other base in the country it was mind blowing. They have everything here where our remote locations didn't even have hot water and sometimes food. It's like your not even in a war torn country and as long as you don't work the gate your chance of seeing any action are slim to none. Best part is your able to keep your run game up while being overseas worst was all the saluting that got old fast.

BAF is the most fun you probably never want to have again. Good people (mostly), good food (surf and turf fridays!) and recreational areas. Except no pools, which would be fun if it wasn't for the regular shelling that occurs. Check out the sights! There's tall concrete walls, tall chain fences, and if your lucky you can see little barbed wire fences! If you like dust and smoke in your lungs while you work out this is the best place for you! Come enjoy movie night with your desert queen or king, or video games with your buds on the 3 hrs of free time. Bedroom accommodations are impeccable. Not only do you get a bunk bed, you get TWO bunk beds! If your lucky you might get the top bunk. Its so close to the ceiling you can touch it! Rooms come with 3 other roommates to socialize with! If you get a chance visit this place one day! I cried the day I left... yes it was that good.
